Dr. Haleh Nekoorad-Long, M.D., a certified geriatric psychiatrist, is the full-time medical director at AltaVita Memory Care Centre. Dr. Nekoorad-Long is at AltaVita Memory Care five days a week. She provides high-level, individualized care plans for each resident and focuses on communicating regularly with family members and caregivers.

As a geriatric psychiatrist, Dr. Nekoorad-Long primarily works with aging adults and issues regarding dementia, depression, and bipolar disorder.  She also helps aging adults manage multiple medications and their possible interactions.  She has been serving patients in Longmont, Boulder, Denver, and surrounding areas since 2003 through the Colorado Mood and Memory Clinic.

Dr. Nekoorad-Long came to Longmont from Atlanta, where she operated a private practice out of the Wesley Woods Geriatric Hospital, a division of the Emory University healthcare system. She also acted as medical director for the Partial Hospitalization Program at Wesley Woods Geriatric Hospital.

She attended medical school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis.  She completed her residency at the Emory University School of Medicine, specializing in general psychiatry.  Following her residency, she completed a fellowship at the Emory University School of Medicine in Geriatric Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry.

Dr. Nekoorad-Long is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc., a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties.  She is also a member of the American Association of Geriatric Psychiatrists, the American Psychiatric Association, the Colorado Psychiatric Association, and the Boulder County Medical Society.

AltaVita Assisted Living Memory Care Centre is recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association as a “Leader in Dementia Care”. We are fortunate to have Dr. Nekoorad-Long for our Medical Director. She ensures we are using the latest strategies to implement care. She is passionate about education and training and would like to extend this opportunity to you.
